The arctic weather since Christmas has hit my training hard as I do not like running when it is icy for fear of injury. As a consequence my first run of the year was 8 miles yesterday. Thankfully I still have some stamina left so recovering my training should not be too hard.
The weekend was spent at Brathay Hall meeting up with the runners and support team. A circuit of the marathon course reminded me how many climbs there are. Great considering my normal training routes are on pancake flat coastal promenades. I will have to build some dune work in when the days get longer. The event feels real now, the enormity of the challenge having become apparent. Five months to go and already the butterflies are starting.
